It’s true that plants can change the entire atmosphere of a residence. For some people, the choice of plants is purely dependent on aesthetics alone. Homeowners and designers also consider other factors such as growing zone, size as well as the level of maintenance required to keep the plants healthy. However, a good number of people also consider the contribution of plants to the Feng Shui of the home, office or any space. Whether you believe and practice Feng Shui or not, improving the quality of the air around you are always a plus.

Lucky Plants in Front of the House

Some of the lucky plants that you can grow in front of the house include the following:

Jasmine

Jasmine is a shrub that is loved by many people because of its beautiful fragrant flowers that grow in clusters as well as the shiny leaves. There are some varieties that grow like vines. The shrub flowers during summer and releases its fragrance during the night. The plant is used to produce oil which has different uses.

As a lucky plant, the jasmine is said to attract love and money when grown around the house.

Basil

The basil plant is well known by people as a popular culinary herb. However, some consider it to be a holy plant. Scientifically, it is one of the few plants that emit oxygen both night and day. It has also been shown to have antiseptic and antidepressant properties. In a few cases, it is also planted as a natural way of repelling flies.

As a lucky plant, the basil is attributed to financial success. Some people even believe that it helps them get wealth with minimal effort.

Morning Glory

The morning glories bloom fully early in the morning. There are also a few species that bloom at night. The flowers do well when exposed to full sunshine. In general, they brighten anyone’s day by blooming early before the midday heat.

As a lucky plant, the morning glories are said to bring the owners of the house happiness and peace. Other people also believe that the morning glory seeds help them have restful sleep and helps keep away nightmares.

Palm

Palms can be grown in front of the house directly into the ground or potted and placed outside or indoors. There are very many types of palms that one can grow, for a full list check this article. Palms bring a tropical and breezy feel wherever they are planted. Palms are loved by many people because they are easy to grow and care for. In addition to being a lucky plant, the palms also improve air quality.

As a lucky plant, the palms attract positive energy and activate any absent Feng Shui elements.

Lucky Plants Inside the House

I decided to include other plants that are said to be lucky when planted inside the house. Some people don’t live in places where they can plant lucky plants in front of the house and only have the option of potting them inside. It is important to note that the lucky plants in front of the house are different from the lucky plants inside the house.

Lucky Bamboo

This plant is actually not areal bamboo rather it’s a dracaena. The plant has been given the name because many people over thousands of years have claimed that it has brought them a fortune. The plant is low- maintenance and only requires water. It also does well inside the house because it does well with little light.

As a lucky plant, it is said to bring peace, love, health, and luck to the house as well as the owners. The association of the lucky bamboo with luck is so developed that even the placement of the plant in the house is a consideration. As an example, when placed in the Southeast of the house, it attracts wealth and when placed on the East the focus is on the family.

The more the number of stocks of bamboo you have in the planter the greater the blessings. Three stalks are for happiness, wealth, and longevity. Five stalks are associated with wealth, while six bring good luck. Seven stalks are for good health, eight are for growth while ten are for completion. A few people also go for 21 stalks which are said to bring great wealth and health that endures.

The Jade Plant

The jade plant has rounded leaves which according to Feng Shui believers is associated with good fortune. The plant is a succulent that is medium-sized and a perfect in-house plant that fits well in most settings.

As a lucky plant, the jade brings wealth and prosperity. Traditionally, the plant was given to business owners because it attracts money and business prosperity. Those who believe in its luck place it in offices and near the entrance as a way of welcoming success. Changing times have seen the plant is included in homes because it works there too.

Money Plant

The money plant is very popular in Feng Shui. It is a perfect indoor plant because it can thrive even in low-light and under shade. It also requires watering only once per week. The plant is notable because of its braided trunk.

As a lucky plant, it attracts luck and prosperity. For the luck to work, the plant should have three or five braided plants. Four is considered an unlucky number and is usually avoided completely.

The Rubber Plant

Just like the jade plant, the rubber plant has round leaves which are associated with money in Feng Shui. The plant can be grown in pots and placed in different locations in the house.

As a lucky plant, it attracts money, abundance, and prosperity.

Orchids

Orchids not only release oxygen at night but are also beautiful additions to the house especially when they flower. Many people use them to add character to different rooms in the house.

As a lucky plant, orchids are said to bring good fortune in love. They also improve existing relationships as well as increase the owner’s chances of finding a new romantic partner. In ancient Greek, the orchids were associated with fertility making some people today to use them as a great gift for new couples and parents.

Snake Plant

To finish off this discussion, I thought I might end it with a controversial plant, the snake plant. The snake plant is also commonly known as the mother-in-law’s tongue. The use of the plant in Feng Shui is controversial as some people believe it’s good while others believe it’s bad. Those who support its use say that when placed properly in the office or home it can bring protective energy which shields the homeowners from negative Chi. Those opposed to the use of the plant claim that in general, it’s a bad Feng Shui plant.

I hope you found some useful information about lucky plants in front of the house as well as lucky plants inside the house. Whether you are only beginning to explore the world of lucky plants and Feng Shui or are already a firm believer, there is no denying that most of these plants are great additions to any room they are added to both at home or in the office.
